VSpace Registration
Goals
Register the vSpace Server
The vSpace server component of the NComputing solution will work for some time before registration, but will terminate sessions after some time. There is no license fee for the server installation as we effectively pay per device. We can install the server many times so long as we have registered devices.
The mechanics of the registration process are the same for the server and the clients. The only difference in the procedure is a small checkbox that will be activated if the server has not been registered before.
Register the L300 client devices
The L300 thin clients are purchased separately from the server and need only be registered once. A properly registered client will work against any server of the same version. This means that if you happen to be deploying new clients for use at the remote lab, you could pre-register them against the test server, and they will carry that registration with them when they connect to the server at the lab.
Registrations can be performed incrementally as you purchase and test more of the L300 clients.
Perform these registrations w/o Internet Access
Since our primary use case is a lab that is not connected to the Internet, we are preparing all procedures to illustrate how one would do these things without Internet access.
The offline registration process involves creating the activation file and emailing it to registration@ncomputing.com. This is an automated emails service that will respond within minutes with a license file.

Activation file preparation is Complete
- The wizard suggests that the activation is complete, but infact this was just the first step for offline registration
Email the activation file
- Now that we have the activation file, you will carry that file to another computer that does have Internet access
- This doesn't need to happen right away, you can wait hours or days or however long it will be to get the file
- Email the file as an attachment to registration@ncomputing.com
- The subject and body of the email doesn't matter
Wait for response
- The email registration is automated, and should respond in a few minutes.
- I have observed that it can glitch and not send a response for days.
- If you don't get a response in an hour you have my permission to contact NComputing support
- The auto-responder will send you a file.
- When you get the file, take it back to the lab where you are registering the devices
Continue Offline Registrion
- Open the registration wizard again
- Select Continue Offline Registration
- Press Next
Select the License File
- When prompted, navigate to the file that you received by email
- Press Next
Verify Success
- Things should look like this when complete
- It should display the serial numbers of the registered devices
- Don't check Register future devices in the background
- There is no Internet access, so this won't be effective
It is ok if the registration doesn't look effective
- If you look in the NComputing Management Console again, you might see that the devices still report as Unregistered. That is OK.
- They will are still registered, but it might not show it until the next restart.
