Notes about Connections

Input devices

  • Only use the rear ports for the keyboard and mouse on the server. They probably won't be identified on the front ports.
  • Connect a keyboard and mouse to the horizontal USB ports on the thin client

Networking

  • Connect one or both of the server network interfaces to a switch. (You could even just connect one interface directly into a thin client for testing)
  • Connect one or more thin clients to the switch as well

Power

  • Connect one or both of the power cords to the server

General Use

  • Power up the server and the thin clients.
  • The server will boot into windows, and display a login prompt
  • The thin client boot into a special lightweight operating system that will show you an interface to connect to a server.
  • The thin clients depend on the DHCP services running on the server. If the thin clients don't display EJP-SERVER as an available server, then press the refresh button which is below the connect button on the main UI fo the thin client
  • When a server is available, the name shall appear in the connection list. Highlight that name and press connect

User accounts

  • The administrator account is documented in the red binder.
  • There are three users to test1, test2, and test3. The test3 user has not logged in before, you you can use that to see what a fresh account looks like. There are no passwords set for those accounts at this time, for your evaluation.
  • We did not complete the user account setup for the students yet. When we do, the accounts and passwords will also be in the red binder

Notable Content Features

  • In addition to the the regular user applications, we have prepared offline versions of two well respected education resources, Khan Academy and Wikipedia
  • See the attached sections for more details about how to inspect that content.
