Open the Registry Editor

Goals

There are a lot of places there certain settings in windows are stored. One of those places is the Registry. The Registry is the central database that most system settings and application configurations are stored.

Always exercise extreme caution when directly editing the registry

Open Regedit

Depending on the task you want to perform you may need to open the Registry Editor

Procedures

Open regedit
Run regedit.png
  • Open the Run dialog
    • Either by pressing Window-R or by selecting Run from the start menu
  • Type regedit
  • Press Enter


Observe the registry editor is open
