Windows Multipoint Installation steps

Install steps



Install windows multipoint server 2011 from cd to first hard drive using whole disk

# Initial Install from DVD Media

  1. Boot from Windows Multipoint Server 2011 SP1 DVD
  2. Step
  3. Select Whole disk
    • If there are any existing partitions, select them, and delete all
    1. Substep
    2. Substep
  4. Wait For Reboot

After First Reboot


  1. At 1st login, create Administrator password
    • (make sure you write down the password)


  1. Follow the Windows Multipoint Server Configuration Wizard
    • Choose a computer name: EJP_SERVER
    • Configuration Options

uncheck: Install updates automatically uncheck: Participate in the CEIP uncheck: Enable Windows Error Reporting Install display driver Click Finish Computer will reboot Computer fininshes rebooting Computer will display display driver issue Press any key Login as Administrator Open Windows Explorer


Installing the HP support packages


  1. Extract ProLiant Support Pack for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 to a folder
  2. Double click on the Proliant support pack extractor: Psp-9.10.w2k8R2.x64.exe
  3. Choose a new folder on the C: drive, such as c:/hp Proliant support pack
  4. Navigate to the new folder in the Windows explorer
  5. Double-click on setup.exe
  6. Maximize window so the next button displays
    • (If you don't maximie you might not be able to see the button)
  7. Press next
  8. Source select should be local folder

Press next Local source needs credentials Click checkbox for localhost Press enter credentials button Login with admin account Press ok Once scan is complete, press next Click on select bundles Exams bundle tree to all package Uncheck all packages Check The following:

    • Matrox G200eH video package(cp015976.exe)
    • HP Proliant PCI-Express power management update
    • HP NC-series Intel E1Q driver
    • HP Proliant iLO ¾ Management Driver
    • HP Proliant iLO ¾ Channel interface Driver
    • HP network configuration utility
    • HP Proliant Smart Array event notification
    • HP Proliant Array configuration utility
  1. Press tab 3 times to highlight to Ok Byron which is of screen
  2. Press Enter (because you won’t see the save button)
  3. Click install button
  4. Wait for installation to complete
  5. Press "Reboot Now"
  6. Remove any USB drives or CDs before continuing
  7. Confirm reboot selection
  8. Wait for reboot

After Rebbooting with HP support packs installed


  1. Follow the “Create a MultiPoint Server Station
  2. Press B and login as Administrator
    • This step tell the Multipoinit server which keyboard to use (link to something that talk about direct attached stations')
  3. Verify Everyone user group is member of Remote Desktop Users group

Computer Management -> System tools -> Local User and Group -> Group -> Double click on Remote desktop User. Set Power Option Control Panel > Hardware > Power options > Select High Performance Windows 7 Theme

Install vsphere_management Assign IP on the network


Configuring Server Roles


  • Open roles thing
  • Add roles
  1. Slect these roles
    • DHCP server
    • DNS
  1. DNS Wizard
    • parent domain: EJP.local
    • Prefered DNS server: 192.168.1.1
    • Wins is not required for application
  1. DHCP Server
    • Local Addresses
    • 192.168.1.100
    • 192.168.1.199
    • 255.255.255.0
    • No gateway


Remove MTXHotplugService from Startup. See Open_MSConfig for Details.
