Change Office Product Key

Goals

We are using Microsoft Office under the UIUC Campus agreement. Traditionally, computers on the UIUC network will be able to reach the campus Key Management Server (KMS) to register and activate the office installation.

Since there is no Network access in the lab, we need to do something different.

Set new product Key

We will change the product to to a Multiple Activation Key (MAK) in lieu of the KMS key.

Activate Office install

After we install the MAK, we need to phone in the activation since there will be no Internet access to perform that operation automatically.

Procedure

Select Change Product Key

• Open Excel
• Select the File Menu
• Click on Help
• Click on Change product key

Enter the new key

• Enter the new Product key
• Get the key from the secure Binder, or the Keepass Database

Let it continue installing

• This part is a little confusing. It wants to reconfigure the keys, but the interface says Install
• Just click Install

Reopen Excel

• When you reopen excel, you will be prompted to Activate
• You will select Phone Activation

Call the phone number

• Call the phone number and type in the ridiculously long number on the screen
